Made in collaboration with Christopher Carlton, An Eye is a portrait of New York City. The city can be seen in its temporary advertisements, made to be layered and stripped away in succession. And it can be seen in the hasty scribbling, slicing and smearing, the destruction — partial or complete — of their surfaces. Much could be said about eyes, violence, existing gods, a theory of art. Don Draper has aged. As the hand shakes the camera loses contact with the thin advertising surface, blinks, and refocuses.
